does psychotherapy work?

Has anybody had an good results by being in therapy to figure out how to reduce the stress that might cause migraines?

This is what I’m considering now.

Nobody has yet to respond to this, so I’m guessing that nobody uses a therapist in addition to medication?

I must have missed this message. When i went to the psychotherapist in MI, so far I only got an intro session so I don’t know where it would have gone.
I do have another doctor that I am suppose to check out that is a neuro therapist counselor, that my reg counselor told me about but as yet I haven’t called. I go to counseling anyways for depression and I went to a psychiatrist to find out why I have such depression and he said it was due to my migraines. So far we haven’t done any plans on the stress around my migraines in my reg counseling session that is probably why she recommended someone else. And I don’t even know if i should go back to the psychiatrist since my neuro said that she wasn’t going to give me any anti depressants.
my counseling sessions in general and venting online help me destress.

I didn’t respond for that reason. My migraines are not usually triggered by stress. (They can be, but I don’t think I have any more stress than the average person.) So I’ve never considered therapy for treatment of my migraines.

i’ve seen a therapist and talked to her about my migraines. but i don’t think it helped to lessen the amount that i get or the intensity. it helped with the depression which is a result of the migraines. she was helpful with suggestions when i would have a problem with work (like when i call out sick a million times a year) or family. it definitely helped me to talk to someone and just get it all out.

I have also tried counseling for my depression and if I go on a regular basis, yes it does help to talk with someone. However, I did not notice any change in regards to the migraines.
